Roles and Responsibilities of LBSC Junior Flag Officers

The Junior Flag Officers will be responsible to:

  • Support the Senior Flag Officers with the conduct of sailing activities at LBSC
  • Represent the interests of youth sailing members at LBSC
  • Contribute to the management of Largs Bay Sailing Club
  • Act as contacts for youth and Management Committee
  • Attend Sailing Committee meetings
  • Raise and lower flags on Saturday sailing days
  • Ensure the nomination box & envelopes are located in the nomination area on Saturday mornings
  • Assist with senior class presentations after Saturday racing
  • Organise after sailing sausage sizzle for special events
  • Conduct fundraising raffles to fund LBSC youth programs
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the upstairs lounge area

The Junior Flag Officers are encouraged to form a junior committee to perform the required tasks.

The positions are structured to help build confidence, management skills and teamwork.
All skills which are vital on any personal resume.

Selection process for LBSC Junior Flag Officers

  • The Youth Flag Officers must be under 21 years of age.
  • Nominations for the Youth Flag Officer positions will be advertised annually after the Annual General Meeting via the member's broadcast email or in a club newsletter.
  • Applications should be made in writing or via emal to the Commodore within the time outlined by the advertisement
  • The Commodore and Senior Flag Officers will select the Youth Flag Officers and notify all applicants of their decision by the last day of August in each season.
