Apply First Aid Training

Event information

Registrations for this event are closed.

Largs Bay Sailing club is offering the opportunity for members and friends to do their Senior First Aid Training at a much reduced cost. The course will be a full day practical workshop with attention to incidents that we may encounter on any Saturday sailing such as drowning, heat stroke, hypothermia and snake bite.

The cost is $85/person for a minimum of 10 people. On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. Even if you’ve done a first aid course in the past, current industry standards state this course must be updated every three years, with the CPR component to be updated annually.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Legal obligations
  • Infection control procedure
  • Basic Life Support (DRSABCD)
  • CPR techniques on adults, children and infants
  • Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Choking and airway obstruction (*Drowning)
  • Cardiac conditions and Stroke
  • Management of shock and unconscious patient
  • Managing medical conditions such as anaphylaxis, asthma and seizures
  • Diabetes
  • Poisons and envenomation (*snake bite)

The course will be held upstairs at the Largs Bay Sailing Club on Sunday 20th September 2020 from 9am to 5pm. Numbers are limited so book early. Any queries, please call Karyn Beyne 0412 605 404
