Event Waiver

I accept the following terms and conditions. Where the volunteer is under 18 years of age the parent or guardian of the volunteers expressly agrees to be responsible for the volunteer’s behaviour and agrees to personally accept the conditions set out below including the provision of a release and indemnity in the terms set out below.

The agreement is for the period of the event including event set up and pack up or on any ongoing role as required.

  1. Working with Children: Where my role as a volunteer requires me to work with children, I agree that I will have a current Working with Children Check (or the State/Territories equivalent).
  2. Privacy: I understand that the information I have provided is necessary for the conduct of the event and for the objects of Australian Sailing and its State Associations. I acknowledge and agree that the information provided will only be used by Australian Sailing and its State Associations to facilitate the conduct of the event conducted by Australian Sailing or its State Associations.   3. I acknowledge and consent to photographs and videos being taken of me during participation in the events activities and authorise Australian Sailing and its State Associations to use such photographs and videos for promotional or other sailing and boating development and marketing purposes without my further consent being obtained. Further, I consent to Australian Sailing and its State Associations using my name, image, likeness and performance in any Australian Sailing or State Association activities, at any time, to promote Australian Sailing or its State Associations by any form of media.
  4. I acknowledge that Australian Sailing may also use my personal information in accordance with the Australian Sailing Privacy Policy. I may advise Australian Sailing if I do not wish to receive information from Australian Sailing or any Australian Sailing sponsors or third parties.
  5. I agree to abide by the Australian Sailing Member Protection Policy and the Code of Conduct below.

Code of Conduct

Australian Sailing places great value on the time and commitment all participants invest and will not accept behaviour which breach the Racing Rules of Sailing, or the relevant Code of Conduct detailed in its Member Protection Policy. The key expectations are to:

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others. 
  • Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealing with others. 
  • Be professional in, and accept responsibility for, your actions. 
  • Make a commitment to providing quality service. 
  • Be aware of, and maintain an uncompromising adhesion to, Australian Sailing’s standards, rules, regulations and policies. 
  • Operate within the rules of the sport including national and international guidelines that govern Australian Sailing. 
  • Do not use your involvement with Australian Sailing, a State Association or an Affiliated Club/Class Association to promote your own beliefs, behaviours or practices where these are inconsistent with those of the Relevant Organisation. 
  • Demonstrate a high degree of individual responsibility especially when dealing with persons under 18 years of age, as your words and actions are an example. 
  • Avoid unaccompanied and unobserved activities with persons under 18 years of age, wherever possible. 
  • Refrain from any form of harassment of others. 
  • Refrain from any behaviour that may bring Australian Sailing, a State Association or an Affiliated Club/Class Association into disrepute. 
  • Provide a safe environment for the conduct of the activity. 
  • Show concern and caution towards others who may be sick or injured. 
  • Be a positive role model. 
  • Understand the repercussions if you breach, or are aware of any breaches of, the Member Protection Policy

All Race Management boat drivers must comply with the following - 

  1. The driver holds a Powerboat Licence
  2. Support vessels must have a current insurance policy with a minimum value of $5,000,000 for public liability insurance.
  3. ALL Occupants of support vessels are required to wear a Lifejacket at all times afloat and the driver must wear a kill cord.
  4. Ensure the vessel complies with current SA safety equipment regulations. - safety-equipment-for-powered-vessels.
  5. All support vessels must have a VHF radio and maintain a listening watch on the VHF radio channel nominated by the race committee
  6. All support vessels must operate under the direction of the Organising Authority and Race Officer in the event of an emergency
  7. Abide by the Racing Rules of Sailing, Australian Sailing Sports Integrity Policies & Safety Code Policies.
